The Teachers

Danni Kleiman

Danni is in her thirteenth year as a teacher at the Rochester Memorial School. She follows a "looping" format in which she keeps the same students throughout their fifth and sixth grade years. Danni earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and then entered the field of education with a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Bridgewater State College.

Jim DellaCioppa

Jim is in his sixth year teaching of fourth and fifth grade at Rochester Memorial School. He's been involved in the planning and implementation of the Teaching For Transfer Across the Arts Project for the past two years. Jim is a member of RMS’s project-based learning task force as well. Jim earned his Journalism degree from Marquette University, Milwaukee in 1987. He went on to receive his Master's degree in Teaching from Rhode Island College in 1996.

Christine A. Boisvert-Ashley

Chris has been Music Specialist at Rochester Memorial School for seven years. She brings sixteen years of experience as a music instructor to RMS and the TTAAP project. When asked about her role in the TTAAP initiative Chris responded, “Working on TTAAP project has been very helpful in my efforts to integrate the arts into the regular curriculum. Focusing on poetry, art, and music has heightened my appreciation for all three disciplines. I have been a part of the project since its inception and have enjoyed watching it grow, progress and influence other educators. Being a teacher researcher was not in my professional plan, but has turned out to be a great source of new knowledge and new questions.”

Joyce Bourdon

Joyce is a fourth grade teacher at Rochester Memorial School. She brings twenty-two years of teaching experience at the elementary level to the TTAAP initiative. During the course of her career, Joyce has taught grades K-6 and has also spearheaded a learning and enrichment program for students. Joyce is interested in the TTAAP initiative in that it opens the door for her as a classroom teacher to explore and research new teaching and learning strategies.

Linda Tilden

Linda teaches K-6 art at RMS. She has been in involved in education for the past 25 years as an art teacher and as a third and fourth grade teacher as well. Linda has been a contributor and collaborator on the TTAAP project since the beginning of the project. Speaking to why she got involved in the TTAAP project Linda says, “I’m interested in finding new ways to teach for understanding in and through the arts.”
