Introduction
Welcome to Water Quality at BLA. This is the Chemistry class website
for this unit. This experimental unit was developed in a collaboration
between Harvard University Graduate School of Education and Boston Latin
Academy. The unit was designed using the Teaching
for Understanding framework developed at Harvard.
Unit Goals
This will be a very practical unit, focused on a real-life application
of Chemistry. It is designed to give you the skills and understanding to
knowledgeably analyze the water quality in a body of water and to explain
what has happened or is happening to produce these results. The extensive
use of web resources and technology will also give you some idea of how
many people and organizations are involved in work on water quality.

Lessons
This unit is designed for approximately two weeks of daily classes with
an independent final project that spans two more weeks. Below are links
to all the lessons in this unit. In the lesson descriptions you will find
each lesson's goals, homework assignments, and links to any handouts and
web resources used in the lesson.
