Online Course

Teaching to Standards with New Technology
Using new technologies and teaching to curriculum standards are often viewed as competing initiatives. This course treats them as complementary innovations. You will develop a unit on a topic related to your curriculum standards. The course applies the Teaching for Understanding framework to focus curriculum, assessment, and the use of technology on development of students' understanding.

New Picture of Practice in the Gallery!

Don't miss the new "Picture of Practice" now in the Gallery. It features the work of Jerry Russell and Vasilii Petrenko. Jerry, a veteran high school science and math teacher has been using new technologies to actively engage his students in learning for the past ten years. Vasilii Petrenko, also an experienced science teacher, worked with Jerry while studying the Teaching for Understanding framework as a graduate student. Together, they created a Water Quality Unit that was successful from both the students' and the teachers' points of view.
