Apply the TfU Framework to Curriculum Design
Understanding How TfU Organizes the CCDT

The CCDT's graphic organizer (shown below) has five points, each of which corresponds to the five main elements of the Teaching for Understanding Framework: Generative Topics, Throughlines, Understanding Goals, Performances of Understanding, and Ongoing Assessment.

When you're working in the CCDT, you can roll your mouse over any one of the TfU elements to see help text that reminds you of how each element is relevant to TfU. If you click on one of the five elements, a window like the one below will appear, displaying the name of the TfU element in the small text field, and writing prompts to guide your thinking about the element in the larger text box. (You can type your ideas in these spaces.)

You'll also notice a "Help" button at bottom of this window. Clicking on "Help" will give you a brief overview of the TfU element, examples of the element in practice, and a list of frequently asked questions.
