Differentiating Instruction: Strategies for Effective Classroom Practice

Instructor - Isabelle Hoag

Isabelle has been with WIDE World since its inception, as an administrator and coach in the coach development courses and forums, and has been a course instructor since 2003.  Isabelle began her teaching career in a Texas elementary school and for eleven years she taught in Finland, Turkey, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.  In 1993, Project Zero researchers from Harvard visited the International School of Amsterdam.  The visit prompted her to begin participating in workshops, training sessions, and the practice of Teaching for Understanding ideas.

Upon returning to the U.S., Isabelle managed the International Classroom Connection (ICC) program of the Minnesota International Center, which provides multi-cultural teacher training workshops, resources and support for over 100 teachers in Minnesota.  She holds a BS in Psychology and a BA in elementary education from the University of Iowa, and gained her Masters in Teaching and Curriculum from Michigan State University.  Isabelle currently lives in the Twin Cities with her twin toddlers and her husband.
