 | START THE JOURNEY: School Leaders
Great teaching requires inspired school leadership. WIDE World helps school leaders guide and support efforts to improve instruction and student performance. Rollover the elements on the pathway below to reveal the professional development opportunities WIDE World provides for school leaders.

Design
WIDE World works with school/district leaders to define and understand your school learning goals and culture and to clarify professional development priorities. WIDE World then collaboratively designs a professional learning plan with coordinated instructional improvement pathways for teachers, coaches, and administrators. The plan outlines courses and related activities, schedules, a recruitment/enrollment process, and other logistics for multiple cohorts of participants. School leaders are invited to accompany their teachers on the journey by participating in our Leading for Understanding online course and other offerings that will arise during the next year. |

Learn & Apply
The pathway for school leaders focuses on Leading for Understanding - how you can support a school centered on teaching and learning to improve student performance. In our Leading for Understanding 1 (LfU 1) online course, you will learn more about the Teaching for Understanding Framework your teachers are using and develop an "action project" to improve professional learning, supervision, and support in your school/district culture. As you collaborate with other school leaders to refine your work, a coach and instructor experienced in school-based understanding initiatives will act as your guides. |

|
 |
Refine & Integrate
After taking the Leading for Understanding 1 course, you are invited to continue your conversations with international and innovative school leaders in our online alumni leadership community. As you implement and experiment with TfU initiatives, you will be able to consult with your peers and WIDE World staff on appropriate refinements, new developments, and possible next steps. |

Continue Inquiry & Collaboration
In conjunction with your future goals, you will have the opportunity to participate in institutes and conferences at the Harvard Graduate School of Education with other forward thinking school leaders. You are also invited to enroll in any of the courses your teachers are taking/have taken to focus on a particular school/district's need (e.g. technology integration). |
