Our Approach

An essential complement to WIDE World's professional development programs is its research and evaluation program. Our research aims to assure that our programs both contribute to and reflect current research on effective professional development, online learning, and wide-scale improvement of educational practice.

Areas of research and evaluation effort include:

• evaluating program design and implementation;
• analyzing the outcomes of participation for course participants as well as their students; and
  
• identifying key contextual variables that boost or undermine the efficacy of online professional development and the sustainability of efforts to improve educational practice.

Research findings in these four areas--design, implementation, outcomes and context--are infused into program activities, fostering continuing cycles of creating, translating, and applying usable knowledge.
